Saturday

Virtual Reality Demos
Time: All Day, Room 909
Description: Join Team Library/IMS  with their HTC Vive Virtual Reality Systems, including brand-new never-before-seen simulations!

Special Guest Star Paul St. Peter: That Voice-Over Audition
Time: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Saturday, room 1000
Paul St. Peter (Kingdom Hearts, Naruto, One-Punch Man, Digimon) brings his years of experience to the panel that challenges the bravest of attendees. Paul will walk through many of the steps involved in creating a good audition. He will give direction and tips on how to perform. Three volunteers will practice a voice acting piece selected by Paul. When the time arrives, they will each have a chance to present their best reading for the “client” (audience). Paul will then gives notes and further direction, and the actors will do their “second takes”. The winner will be selected based on Paul’s critiques, and also by audience reaction. Afterwards, Paul will share his experiences in the audition process in particular, offer anecdotes about the business in general, and take questions from the attendees.

Celebrity Swag Auction
Time: 11:00 AM -12:00 PM
Description: This is a silent auction. Stop by and make your bid! Winners will be announced at noon and can pick up their items by 1:00 PM. We will have celebrity memorabilia, including autographs, photos, and personal items of the stars. Among the auctioned items include items donated for this event by William Shatner and others. The money raised from the auction will go to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Women in Sci-fi
Time: 12:00-1:00 PM Saturday, room 1000
Description: Although Sci-Fi as a genre is often accused of being sexist, it is also a genre with some of the most inspiring and empowered female characters. How does this incongruity play out, and how can the effects of sexism be mitigated?
Panelists: Yvonne Navarro, Marcy Rockwell, others. Moderated by Nicole Nieto.

Q&A with Special Guest Star Steve Cardenas

Description: Join Hollywood star Steve Cardenas (the Red Power Ranger/the Blue Zeo Ranger from TV’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) for a panel on his legendary work.

The Villains of Special Guest Star Paul St. Peter
Time: 2:00-3:00 PM Saturday, room 1000
Description: Join voice actor Paul St. Peter (Kingdom Hearts, Bleach, Naruto, Digimon, Resident Evil) for a panel on his work. Paul St. Peter talks about the vocal adjustments and character choices he has used to create some very frightening voices! His portrayals of Xemnas (Kingdom Hearts), and Nine Tail Fox (Naruto), have chilled many a spine, and the terrifying Yammy Riyalgo (Bleach) is a study in pure menace. Paul will demonstrate his techniques in a clear, simple manner that will allow the fans to feel they are part of the creative process. Then he will ask for volunteers from the audience to rise and frighten everyone with their own vocal creations. Let’s all have some scary thrills!

C4!! Costume Contest – Kids (Under 18) and Adults (Over 18)

Description: Show some spirit with your best costume! Prizes will be awarded on the best costumes.

Creative Writing Celebration Panel
Time: 3:00-4:00 PM, Saturday, room 902
Description: World-building in science fiction and fantasy. Every story takes place in a “world.” There’s the setting: on earth, some other planet(s), in outer space, in some other era. There’s the society and culture of each, the races or species involved, whether magic or technology or both are involved, and to what extent. And so much more. Join five science fiction/fantasy authors as they discuss their processes for building the worlds of their stories.

Trek Talks 
Time: 3:00-4:00 PM Saturday, room 901
Description: Join the crew of Sierra Vista’s only Starfleet International recognized Star Trek club, the USS Coyote, as they discuss everything from The Original Series to the latest incarnation, Discovery.  Hailing frequencies will be open as the crew answers your questions about episodes, characters, ships and more!!!  Everything from tech to Tuvok will be open!!!

Star Wars Builder’s Panel
Time: 3:00-4:00 PM Saturday, room 1000
Description: A one hour discussion on how to get started, techniques, and discussion about those awesome Star Wars props and armor!

Star Trek Cosplay Photo Op
Time: 4:00 PM Saturday, Library Commons
Description: Join the crew of Starfleet International recognized Star Trek club, the USS Coyote, for a group photo! Anyone in a Star Trek costume is welcome to participate.

C4!! Comedy Show
Time: 4:00-5:00 PM Saturday, room 1000
Description: Arizona comedians Kid Ever, James Hoenscheidt, Ernesto Ortiz, and Steve Marek will appear. This is a family-friendly show. Hosted by Kid Ever.

Description: Exhibit your superhero strength by raising money through the power of your muscles! Or donate your dimes or dollars to one of the superheroes in the Push-up Challenge! Donations from this event go to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Description: Join Southern Arizona author Yvonne Navarro as she discusses her books and reads passages from them.

Married With Deadlines: Spotlight on Guests of Honor Marsheila Rockwell and Jeffrey J. Mariotte
Time: 1:00-2:00 PM Sunday
Description: Join Arizona authors Marsheila Rockwell and Jeffrey Mariotte, who have written more than 40 novels, as they discuss their work.

Special Guest Star Paul St. Peter: the Voice Maker
Time: 2:00-3:00 PM Sunday
Description: Noted voice actor Paul St. Peter brings a fun, practical, and accessible approach to voice and character creation that can benefit any speaker, from beginner to expert. He will share his experiences in anime and video game production, and call upon brave volunteers from the audience to assist him in showing how the process works. Those interested in attending the following panel (Voice Performer) will return and perform assigned auditions, scenes, narration, and commercials. Come and see how actors create these fun and sometimes wild voices! Are you brave enough?

The Blood Hunter

Produced by Richard Hill, The Blood Hunter is a new film starring Timothy Quill (from Army of Darkness) and Danny Hicks (from Evil Dead 2). It’s a horror film a new take on vampire hunters. Producer Richard Hill will be on the panel.

Writing in Existing Universes

Description: Join Arizona authors Yvonne Navarro, Marsheila Rockwell and Jeffrey Mariotte as they discuss how they have approached writing in already existing worlds such as the Conanverse, Aliensverse, and Buffyverse.

Welcome to graduation day! Mr. St Peter will talk briefly about the previous panel (Voice Maker), and then the attendees who rehearsed their assigned material will be on stage! Audience members will be asked to comment about the voices and performances they hear, and Mr. St. Peter will give notes and offer advice, and have the speakers do re-takes. Let’s all see how creative and inventive our fellow Con friends can be!

The Gingerbread House: The Dark Side of Fairy Tales
